So sometimes it can be really difficult to work with family members, but it the opposite for my mom and me. We work very well together. Our style is not exactly the same, but that’s okay. I know what she likes, and I try to help make her home “look like her.” Her style is classic but a little ornate. She appreciates all different design styles and likes to incorporate them all into a room. I think her new bathroom is a refection of that.
I love the floor in this bathroom. The little dot is so classic. The shower and floors are marble. The dots are black granite. I think this helps tie in the black granite she wanted on the countertops. We had the mirrors custom made for the space. The fill the wall between the window and the wall perfectly. We had a very difficult time trying to decide what to do with the tub. It was a huge whirlpool tub before (ugh). This bathroom is HUGE so we decided just to use the space we had and bring the tub out into the middle of the room. They are very happy with the room, and that makes me happy!
I love a good before and after, don’t you? Here’s our master bath that we finished last fall. We love it. So relaxing and peaceful.
Hideous, right? I do not miss this bathroom. It was so gross. Not because it was dated. The previous owner left it in bad shape. So here it is now. It is so serene, light and bright. We love the carrera marble and claw foot tub.
I was browsing through the latest House of Fifty online issue, and I noticed the beautiful add for The Pink Pagoda. The add was so colorful and it said “dress up your walls”. I was curious, so I clicked on the link that took me to the website. The Pink Pagoda is a cute little etsy store that has high quality, colorful prints. If you’re looking for something to dress up a room in your home, check it out! I think they would look great in a nursery, bathroom or girly guest bedroom, and they are so affordable! The bathroom is almost finished!!! We just need the roman shade and window sills. I want to give you a little sneak peak of some of the finishes.
My house is a wreck. Boxes everywhere, and I couldn’t be happier! Finally, we are working on the master bath. There’s also progress on the outside of the house. They are painting all of the trim and adding more zones to our sprinkler system. My husband and I thrilled that these big projects will be completed by Thanksgiving. Then we will be full swing into the holidays and after that the baby will be here before you know it!
Here’s some pictures of the messy projects I have going on:
You can see all of the paint swatches I painted on the garage trying to figure out what color I wanted the house.
Here’s some pics of the demoed bathroom. I think it looks better already!
This is the master bedroom right now.
The best tip I can give you when doing a remodel project is to have ALL of you supplies at your house before the workers come to start. You never want guys waiting around for items. They will move on to other projects, and then it’s tough to get them back. And you’re stuck waiting on them and nothing is being done in your room. I have all of my tile, tub, vanity, mirror, sconces, chandelier, and all the hardware. So far this has really helped to expedite the process; however, it is a mess! There are boxes everywhere.
Living in a house that is being remodeled is not easy. Thankfully, so far (knock on wood), this bathroom project is going fairly smoothly. It is so much better than when we did the kitchen (nightmare!!!). We’re basically all sleeping upstairs. I’m thankful we have a place to go.
When we were in New Orleans in April, I stumbled across this amazing store Antiques de Provence. This is the real deal folks. Beautiful antique pieces from France. It is truly amazing, and I could have spent all afternoon day dreaming. Most pieces are way out of my budget. A girl can dream…

I’ve mentioned before that I’ve never been a huge fan of wallpaper. Once you tried to peel wallpaper off of a wall, you say to yourself, “I will never put up wallpaper again!” Well, I guess I’m far enough removed from my last horrible wallpaper experience because I ordered four rolls for my powder bathroom. Even my husband (the wallpaper hater) loves what I’ve chosen! I chose this wall covering from Designers Guild:
It is a light purpley-pink. The marble on the floor is purple, grey and lilac. I decided not to hide from the crazy marble. I’m just going to play it up. It’s going to look fun and elegant at the same time. I’m excited to have some color in my home!
Designers Guild is a fabulous company out of London. It is owned and run by Tricia Guild and her brother. If you love color and pattern, you will love all Designers Guild products. The patterns and colors speak for themselves, so I’m just going to post a lot of pictures for you! They carry everything from linens and pillows to designer fabric and wall coverings. AND they’re having a big SALE right now, so find something beautiful for yourself!
Are you in love yet? I know I am! I know that it’s kind of wild, but the colors and patterns are just exquisite.
Pink and gold is one of my favorite combos. I think I saw it first in a Martha Stewart wedding magazine. Here are a few examples that I just love.

I hope you like everything I’ve chosen. It definitely took some compromising with my husband to get to this point. We have very different tastes. I think it’s pretty common for husbands and wives to disagree I hope you had a great Fourth of July weekend. Our’s was wonderful!
As I look at inspiration photos for the bathroom, I’ve noticed several pictures of fancy mirrors over freestanding tubs. I love this look. You really can’t have art in the bathroom to due to the steam, so a beautiful mirror can act as your “art”.
You better believe I have a mirror in mind!
