Dining Room Before Picture

These curtains are HIDEOUS!  That’s all I have to say.  YUCK.  The wallpaper is also terrible.  I know wallpaper can be tempting, but it’s usually not a good idea.  It is a pain in the booty to get down, and it goes out of style in at least 3 to 5 years.  Paint is so much simpler and easier. The fake chair rail is also down.  This room will be a dark grey color.  I have a beautiful silver and gold rug and a gold and crystal chandlier.  It will be very glamourous!  It is the FORMAL dining room.  So why not be glitzy?!

  1. I have to slightly disagree with you on wallpaper. I am a huge fan of dramatic paper. If done well, it can be like art on the wall.

I do agree that it can date fairly quickly, so I use it in small spaces that I know I’m going to change up in five-ish years away. So I wouldn’t do, say, a hall. But I would do a powder room and I recently did my home office with dramatic blackbird wallpaper. Pics to come!

    • Oh Laura, I love the look of wallpaper! There is some really gorgeous stuff out there. I just get really, really frustrated when it has to come down, so it’s not worth it to me to put it up. And for most people, they don’t have the money to change it all the time. So if you’re on a budget or you don’t plan on remodeling in the next 5 years, I don’t think it’s a good idea. Also, I like to change things too often. I get tired of colors and patterns really quickly. I want to be able to change something quickly without too much effort.
