The Right Way

I’m all about doing things yourself, if you have a small project.  I’ve come to realize that large projects are usually best left to the pros.  The downside to having professionals do work for you is the cost.  I understand that; however, amateur attempts can cost you more in the long run.

The previous owners of our home painted the kitchen cabinets white.  They did the wrong way.  You must sand and paint and sand and paint.  It’s a tedious, difficult project.  Cabinets are extremely difficult to paint.  They really look the best when they’re sprayed, rather than brushed.  I know this is expensive, but if you’re going to do it, do it right!  Otherwise, it just looks cheap and unfinished.

This is what happens when you don’t sand and paint.

Yes, that’s right, you can just peel off the top layer of paint!  Not good!  There are two layers of paint underneath the white.  It looks like the cabinets have been painted and antiqued also.  If they would have sanded and painted a few times, the paint would not peel off like this.
