Check it out! Something you may not know!

Did you know quilters had designer fabric?  I didn’t until about a year ago.  My aunt is an avid quilter.  She wanted to make my baby a quilt, so I went to check out the fabrics at Oklahoma Quiltworks on Penn and Britton in OKC.  Most of them are your basic cotton twill.  Here are a few of my ideas: curtains, pillows, baby bedding, bags, and children’s clothes.  I would love to hear some of your ideas for these gorgeous, modern fabrics!

All of these photos were taken at Oklahoma Quiltworks http://www.okquiltworks.com/

Prices seemed to range from about $4.00 to $10.00 per yard.

Here is a list of designers:

Amy Butler http://www.amybutlerdesign.com/

Moda Fabrics http://www.unitednotions.com

Riley Blake Designs http://www.rileyblakedesigns.com/

Robert Kaufman http://www.robertkaufman.com/

Heather Bailey http://www.heatherbailey.typepad.com/

Heather’s blog is darling!  It’s full of beautiful pictures and fun craft projects.  Definitely make time peruse.

Obviously, most of these designers do not just design their fabrics for quilts.  They are used for many, many different things.  I just wanted to show another option when looking for fabrics.  So check out your local quilt store or get online and order some!

  1. I love quilting fabrics. They’re inexpensive and always have the most interesting colors and patterns. I’ve used them numerous times for roman shades, ottoman slipcovers, and bed linens. Too fun! The hardest part is picking which ones to get!

  2. Hey Stacy! This is Kellie Nickels from flock. I had no idea there were such wonderful fabrics at quilting stores. I will have to go check it out! Thanks for sharing.

By the way, I love your blog!
