Lulu DK Child for Schumaker

I’m OBSESSED with the new children’s line from Schumaker.  It is perfect.  I like all of it.  It is so fresh and colorful without being overdone.  I love simple rooms for children.  Anyone out there that would let me outfit their new nursery with these beauties?  Please?  Pretty please?

A little about the line from the company  (Schumaker):

Lulu deKwiatkowski, founder and designer of LULU DK Fabrics, has collaborated with Schumacher on a joyful and sophisticated collection of children’s fabrics. Lulu’s signature style—bold, generous use of color and whimsical hand painted designs—is evident throughout this line of coordinating prints and embroideries.

LULU DK | Child features eight prints and six embroideries on cotton grounds, including an embroidered tape. The color palette mixes pastels and brights, which are well suited to the enchanting array of animals, butterflies, small patterns, and overscaled motifs. The collection provides diverse options for girl’s and boy’s rooms, from infants to teens, as well as for a variety of casual interiors.

A Nursery for Baby Hart

I’m excited to announce that we had our second little boy five weeks ago!  He is the sweetest, and we are crazy about him.  I’m sorry I haven’t had a post in a while.  It has been so busy!  And, honestly, I needed a little break.  BUT I’m back and ready to go!

Here are pics of Hart’s nursery.  Part of the reason I do this blog is to give you all good resources, so I will try to link to any sources I can for items shown in the photos.  I’m really happy with how it turned out, and I hope it can transition well into a big boy bedroom one day without too much change.

The  faux vintage maps were found at a paper store on one of our trips to New Mexico.  I stitched HART onto a piece of fabric above the crib.  All of the framing was done at Hobby Lobby.  The lamb mobile is from Pottery Barn Kids.  The lamb critter chair is also from PBK.  The brand of the glider/rocker is Best Chair.  It is from the first nursery.  It has had lots of use, and it’s still in great condition.

I’m sorry, but I can’t remember the brand of the crib, but I got it at Room to Dream here in OKC.  The crib sheet is the Pimento French Ring from Serena and Lily.  The crib is skirt is the European Diamond Matelasse Skirt from Restoration Hardware Baby & Child.  For this nursery, I didn’t buy a bumper pad.  I didn’t use it at all for my first child, so I thought it was a waste of money.  I think this goes to show that you can mix and match bedding.  You don’t have to buy a set from one store.  I had a nice piece of blue and cream wool carpet cut for the rug at Oklahoma Rug and Carpet in OKC.

The owl table lamp is from Target.  The table was on clearance at Hobby Lobby.

The pillows from RH Baby & Child.  The little animals are sock monkey brand.

I repurposed many things in this room.  This dresser was my dad’s when he was a kid.  I had it sprayed white and replaced the knobs with owl pulls from Anthropologie.  The mirror was in a bathroom that I had replaced.  My husband spray painted it black for me.  I ordered the changing table off Amazon.  It’s a Jenny Lind changing table.

Owl Knob

This is Oklahoma pillow is my cheap version of the really expensive Catstudio one.  I didn’t want to spend $160 on the real version so I had the Catstudio dishcloth made into a pillow.  The dishcloth costs about $20.

My mom always sang You Are My Sunshine to me, and I sing it to both my boys.  It is such a precious song.  I love these prints I found on etsy from StudioLo2011.

The curtains are grey and white stripes.  I found the fabric at Fabrics Unlimited in OKC.

I hope you liked my sweet Hart’s nursery.  I’m so happy with the lightness and brightness of the room.  I’m sorry that the quality of the pictures isn’t great.

The Pink Pagoda

I was browsing through the latest House of Fifty online issue, and I noticed the beautiful add for The Pink Pagoda.  The add was so colorful and it said “dress up your walls”.  I was curious, so I clicked on the link that took me to the website.  The Pink Pagoda is a cute little etsy store that has high quality, colorful prints.  If you’re looking for something to dress up a room in your home, check it out!  I think they would look great in a nursery, bathroom or girly guest bedroom, and they are so affordable!  The Pink Pagoda Etsy Shop

Nesting & Planning

I have too many ideas in my head right now.  Baby, kitchen project, nursery, bathrooms, toddler room, play room…  I’m definitely in full-fledged nesting mode.  It’s ironic that I had everything for the nursery finished like 3 months before my fist baby arrived, but the second one will be here an approximately 5 weeks, and we just finished clearing out the room!  Agh!  It’s in the works though!  I took the fabric to the seamstress today to have panels made.  Bought the rod.  Crib is in the garage (not put together, at least it’s at my house!).  Rug is rolled up in the study.  And I just finished my little sewing project for above the bed.

I’m kinda stressing about our newborn/family photo shoot after the baby comes.  Last time I was so swollen, and I couldn’t find anything to wear.  Hopefully, this time it won’t be like that.  I’m so  particular about what we wear.  Matchy-matchy family photos are not my thing.  Here are some images I found on Pinterest that are great inspiration. As you can see, I’m into white right now… Don’t you love beautiful photograph?

Holiday Bedding

Maybe it’s just been since I had a child, but it really surprises me how much holiday bedding is out there.  Everything from sheets to pillows and duvets.  Who buys this stuff?  Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s so cute! And I love Christmas decor just as much as the next girl. But who has the money for this?  And how does it coordinate with the decor already in the room?

Nursery Brainstorming

We have great news, we’re having our second boy!  I’m so excited for Thatcher to have a little buddy to play with.  I treasure my sister and all the hours we spent playing school, games, dolls, etc.  I’m sure my little monkeys will be climbing trees, shooting BB guns, and generally causing mischief.  And I can’t be more happy or excited about it!

I definitely had a vision for a girl nursery.  But this boy thing is stumping me.  I don’t want to make the same mistake I made with the first nursery, and the hubby has given me some restrictions (bah humbug!).

With the first nursery I got carried away with all the cutsie baby things.  I started uncontrollably buying anything that had a sheep on it.  Well just as you can imagine, I’m sick of sheep!  I’m usually totally against any sort of theme, but somehow I lost control.  I will not make that mistake this time!  I’m going to try to pick items that will last awhile, stand the test of time, and grow with this little boy.  And my husband has said that I have to leave the room the same color for five years!  Five years!  Sheesh… I like changing things so this is difficult for me.

I’ve found these three pictures that represent the feel and look I want for this room.  They are cozy with just the right amount of character and charm.

Cote de Texas.  Check out the rest of this house.  Pretty incredible.

So as I look at these pictures I think would describe these rooms as classic, all-American, and timeless.  Hopefully, I can achieve the same feel for this little guy.

What’s on my mind?

I have several projects going on right now.  Some for me and some for clients.  Here’s what’s in my head…
